Creating a blog...

Is easy right? I thought so at first.

I've been MIA for a few weeks because I have been trying to make this blog resemble me. I remember taking an HTML class in high school 9 years ago so I thought it would be pretty simple. Yeah, not so much! So I did the first thing that came to mind, searched other fabulous blogs!! I came across an awesome blog by Renee called Living Laughing and Loving. Renee, being her awesome self, put together a series called Beautify Your Blog, which was a complete life saver.

By following her easy steps I have been able to add some changes to Twenty63 that I am happy with. I love my new background, header, favicon and signature. There are a few more "extras" I want to add but I am extremely happy with the look now.

I've been working on a few small organizing projects around the house that I hope to be able to show next week. Until I return, head over to Renee's Blog - I promise you will love it!!

First View of Our Home

One big reason I decided to create this blog is to post projects we do around the house. When my husband and I purchased our house [in September 2010] we were in love with it! Don't get me wrong, we still love waking up in this house every day, but I want to make it feel like home. We have lived in this house without any major changes for over a year now. This has given us a chance to figure out how we are going to use each room and figure out what changes we want to make. When I sat down to write this post, I didn't realize just how much we have ahead of us. I am sure it will take a long time to get everything done, but we are in this house for the long haul. Moving around so much early in our marriage made us buy a house we will be able to grow into. We plan to be in this house, at twenty63, for many many years!

Before we get started on a lot of projects I wanted to post some before pictures. All of these pictures were saved from the house listing when we found it last year so the furniture isn't ours.

This is our home! It was built in 2007 and has only had one owner so it is in great condition. The front brick is a mix of light brown and gray with dark green shutters.

When you first walk into our home you are in our sitting room/dining room. We currently do not use it as a "dining" room combo because we have a eat in kitchen as well. As you can see in the picture below, the walls are a shade of yellow. I don't believe this color would be so bad, if it wasn't in EVERY room of the house!

After you walk through the front room you enter our kitchen and living room. Our entire downstairs is an open concept plan. I love it when we have gatherings at our house but it has made it hard to decide on decorating choices.

Again, the yellow color follows you through the kitchen and living room downstairs.

When you get upstairs we have a "loft" area. This is where we spend 90% of our TV time. Again, the yellow color - it must have been the basic paint color from the builder.

Our master bedroom is huge compared to any other bedroom we have had. Connected to our bedroom we have a walk in closet and a master suite bathroom, sorry no picturs of the bathroom yet!

The next two pictures are of our two guest bedrooms [future baby rooms!].

This is our 2nd full bath upstairs.

Now to one of the selling points of the house, the potential of the outside living space. I fell in love with our screened in porch. It's a great little space to relax.

Take one step out of the screened in porch and you walk onto the deck. I'm not sure if the builder added the deck or if the previous owners did. Either way it needs some work. Nails are popping out all over the place and the railing is an awkward height.

The size of the back yard was a selling point too, especially since the house is in a neighborhood. It's a great size for our two dogs and we plan to add a fence one day in the future.

We don't have any pictures of the half bath downstairs or the laundry room that is upstairs. Since we have been in the house over a year we have completed a few simple projects. I will be posting those updates soon to catch you up to speed on what the house looks like now.

New Year, New Blog...

Hello everyone! If you're reading this then you probably already know me, but welcome to my little place on the web. If by chance you don't know me then head on over to the 'About Me' page and lets become friends :)

I decided to finally create a blog after stalking reading several blogs daily for several years. I plan to post about everything important to me including my family, my home and my hobbies. This will be an online 'diary' of our adventures in being new home owners and slowly making this house OUR home. I will also be sharing some DIY projects, probably inspired by Pinterest, paper crafts and yummy recipes.

I hope you stick around as I get this blog up and running. If you have any questions or suggestions please feel free to leave a comment. Thanks for stopping by and hope you visit again soon!
