One Fish, Two Fish

Happy Tuesday y'all! I hope you had a great weekend. It feels like B and I have hardly been home the last week, which is why I haven't posted since last Monday (yikes). This past weekend wasn't any different. We helped B's sister move into a new apartment. She is a single mother of two, soon to be three, kids and we spent all day Saturday helping her move and setting up her new place. Like most single mother's she is on a tight budget, so we did everything we could to help her out.

She was determined to give her kids a bathroom of their own in this apartment. We headed to Target with a mission. With two kids and a strict $30 budget we headed straight to the clearance section. We were able to find some great deals.

Please forgive the up coming links, of course I forgot to take pictures and Target's website didn't have pictures of the exact colors we purchased. We were able to find a yellow shower curtain on clearance for $6.00, a red soap pump, a red toothbrush holder and a green storage canister on clearance at Target for a $3.00 each. Since the accessories are a thick plastic material she doesn't have to worry about them getting broken with the little ones handling them daily. She also found a great Dr. Seuss One Fish Two Fish picture frame on clearance at target for only $6.50. I think it was on clearance because it's normally a set of two frames but Target only had one of the frames available (the one with stripes).

We returned to her apartment feeling like we accomplished our mission. After we hung the picture frame and curtain we quickly realized she needed some additional artwork. After spending $21.50 at Target, she only had $8.50 leftover so she decided she could just work with what she had. I instantly knew as soon as I got home I wanted to try to make a printable for her bathroom.

One thing I love about the internet is the ability to get amazing ideas from other fabulous people. I've seen a ton of people putting quotes or other computer generated art in picture frames. I did a quick search for One Fish Two Fish clip art and some Dr. Seuss quotes and created the following printables in Word:

The picture quality stinks (1) because I'm not a great picture taker and (2) these pictures were taken at night time so we had zero natural light going on. This is a quote that I found online, it reads "Today you are you, that is truer than true. There is no one alive, more youer than you." I loved the meaning of the quote and thought it would be something great for the kids to read each day. I just used a free font I previously downloaded on our computer (free fonts are awesome) and printed it at "best" quality on my printer on white textured card stock. Threw it in a 8x10 white frame I already had on hand.

I found these cute little clip art images online and decided to throw some bathroom reminders up there for the kiddos. I threw it in another white frame that we had around the house just sitting in a box. Again I printed this one one textured white card stock at "best" quality on our printer. I sent my sister in law a text message picture and she says she loves it! I plan on going over there later this week to deliver them (I will get a bathroom picture to add to this post!). Another great free project since we already had everything on hand and it makes me happy to help my sister in law whenever I can.

If you're interested in printing them out for yourself just let me know and I will add a printable tab and figure out how to add them on here.

What did you do this weekend? Have you created any digital artwork to add to one of your rooms? I would love to hear all about it.
