Survival Hax to test and review their Tactical LED Pen with Glassbreaker. As soon as I looked into the Tactical Pen, I knew I wanted to get my hands on it for multiple reasons.
I know many of you may think a review of a Tactical LED Pen is super strange over here on Twenty63, but it 100% fits into our life. I love doing product reviews but only for products that are authentic products my family would use and what I think would be a great product to share with you all. So, let's discuss first why I was so interested in learning more about the Tactical LED Pen.
My husband and I take emergency preparedness and personal defense very seriously. My husband is a Combat Veteran and since he separated from the Marine Corps he has worked very close to Law Enforcement. Blogging is a hobby of mine that I love, but in my full time day job, I am a Financial Crimes Investigator for the State. We both have concealed carry permits, we are a firearm friendly house (as we are both properly trained on the handling and safe storage of firearms) and we are always looking for ways to help people educate themselves on personal protection. So, when I first learned of this product I immediately saw it having a place in my personal life as well as my professional life. Let's get into the lovely details:
So, full disclosure, I did not get this product for free but I did receive a discount to purchase it in exchange for my honest review. I ordered my Tactical LED Pen via Amazon from here. The ordering processing was extremely simple, it's Amazon! If you're a prime member, like we are, then you will receive it within two days.
The pen arrived in a matte black box and was sitting securely in a foam molded insert, which ensured the pen arrived in perfect condition. I could immediately tell as soon as I removed the pen from the molded insert that this pen was not your average pen.
As you can tell it is slightly longer than an Sharpie Fine Point pen and a Pilot G2 pen. It's roughly 6 inches long and 1 lb in weight. You will clearly be able to tell this Tactical Pen is heavier than what you are use to, but not overly heavy to make it uncomfortable to write with or carry. The pen itself is made of military grade aviation aluminum alloy.
This little beauty is way more than just your standard pen. It not only has a refillable ballpoint pen, it has a fully functional tungsten cone tip to break glass, a magnesium fire flint and an LED light - all in one.
First, the tungsten cone tip comes to a nice strong point. This will easily break glass or work as a great self defense tool if needed. This is one feature that interested me. I know many women are not comfortable carrying a firearm, some aren't even comfortable with them being in their home, and I completely understand. Without the proper knowledge, understanding and training on a firearm, I'm not so sure I would be as comfortable as I am now. However, I think many women are unsure what other physical protection options they have. I can tell you this tungsten cone tip is heavy duty. And once you grip this pen in your hand if you struck anything with the tungsten cone tip, with any type of pressure it would be felt. I know many, if not all, women carry a pen in their purse - this would be my pen if I didn't have any additional protection. Make it easily accessible in your purse and this would be a sleek little personal defense tool.
If you twist off the tungsten cone tip cover, you will see the ballpoint pen. Luckily, this pen is refillable - so it won't ever be an empty ink pen just sitting in your junk drawer in your kitchen. Oh, am I the only one who has one of those, hmmm...ok. The pen fits comfortably in your hand. I will say, with the additional weight, I can't see me using this pen every single day as a main writing tool. However, I do plan on using it while I am doing person of interest interviews with my job and in my purse when I am out and about with my family. It never fails, I always have a note to write down or a reminder.
On the other side of the ballpoint pen, you have access to a fire flint made of magnesium. If you're out camping, lost, stranded, etc - this pen could help you start a fire, I'm sure you don't have any other pen that can do that.
On the very end of the pen, is your flashlight. I'm going to be honest, when I first saw it I giggled!! I wondered, how would this help me? But, this LED light is extremely bright and I have actually used it several nights. The down side is the LED light is a contact screw where you twist the lens to turn it on and off; however, I found it would turn on easily when trying to remove the pen from the molded insert.
Overall, I would recommend this 4 in 1 Tactical Pen as a great purchase for any emergency preparedness kit or for personal defense in general. I know I have seen a lot of men review this tool; however, I think it is a great product for women to look into as well. How is it the middle of July already? Life has been having a way of getting away from me lately, we have been dealing with some family issues and we took a much needed break from life and enjoyed the Smokey Mountains for a few days last week (more on that in another post). However, before family issues and before a short vacation, I was giving the opportunity from
